After all that success with Argo, you'd think Ben Affleck would take a well deserved break from film making, right? Seems Warner Brothers doesn't anyway, because word on the street is that the studio is eyeing up Affleck to direct their Bunker Hill adaptation.
For those of you who aren't overly familiar with American history, The Battle of Bunker Hill was fought between the Brtish Army and the American colonies, which had besieged Boston during the Revolutionary War in the late 1700s. In other words, it's based on the history of his favourite city.
Y'see, American author Nathaniel Philbrick is just about to release a book about the whole thing, called 'Bunker Hill: A City, A Siege, A Revolution'. Among other things, it'll be telling us about tensions between the army and the people of Boston in the aftermath of the Tea Party, and Deadline says Warner Brothers secured the rights to it this week, hoping Affleck and Matt Damon's production company would take on the project. Sure weren't Gone Baby Gone and The Town great Boston-based movies?
And if Ben does take on the film chances are his Argo scribe Chris Terrio could be snapped up to write the screenplay to boot. Could another trip to the Academy Awards be on the cards? It's early days yet, but we'll never say never...
