Jon Favreau is without a shadow of a doubt my favourite interview in the several years I've been doing this gig. Swingers has been my favourite movie for many, many years and getting to interview him was a genuine dream come true - what a legend and gent he was too. Now, after the relative disappointment of his last directorial effort, Cowboys and Aliens, he'll apparently helm a big screen version of Jersey Boys.
According to Variety, Favreau is considering taking charge of the film which has a script from Gladiator screenwriter John Logan. The story centres on the multimillion record selling band of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons "a group of blue-collar boys from the wrong side of the tracks who became one of the biggest American pop music sensations of all time. The group sold 175 million records worldwide before they were thirty." The stage show has been a mammoth hit on Broadway and The West End.
Favreau is one of the main reasons Marvel are where they are today - with the third biggest film of all time (and counting). He did a superb job with Iron Man and is a talented storyteller and actor. I wanna see him do more acting, but this is an interesting change of gear for him.
