We told you a few weeks go about Amy Adams' new romantic comedy Leap Year, which is due to shoot in Ireland in February; well the film just bagged a director in the form on Shopgirl helmer Anand Tucker. This is really surprisingly news, as frankly, Tucker is a really good director and we weren’t expecting someone of his calibre to sign on. Shopgirl is an underrated gem, while he was also attached to The Golden Compass for a while before pulling out at the last minute due to creative differences. Leap Year is from the guys who wrote Made of Honour, and centres on a woman who travels to Ireland on a leap year to propose to her Irish boyfriend, as apparently there's a tradition he has to say yes. But along the way she quite probably learns the true meaning of love and the likes. Either the script is surprisingly good or Tucker was forced to do this by his agent looking for a decent commission - we're really hoping for the former.
