Although it's only on release for one weekend, there's already early talk for an Oscar run for A Quiet Place by industry bible Variety and a strong box office to boot.
The film managed to take in the second-highest US opening on the year so far with a solid $50 million against a production budget of $17 million and received a CinemaScore of B+ from audiences, with analysts expecting it to sail past $100 million in the coming weeks in the US. Further afield, A Quiet Place opened up in 20 territories with a take of $21 million.
That puts A Quiet Place, according to Deadline's analysis, on par with M. Night Shyamalan's Split and 79% above Get Out's debut - no easy feat in a cinematic landscape that's pretty well-stocked with choices for people this weekend just gone.
Irish figures have yet to be released for A Quiet Place, but the expectation is that it'll... (groan) make some noise.
