The Dark Knight helmer Christopher Nolan's latest film, Inception, has been garnering ecstatic reviews not seen in some time, with more than one critic hailing it as the saviour of the summer season.
There are a handful of reviewers Stateside whose opinion I'd hold in high regard, and they've all been nothing but complimentary. Justin Chang of trade bible Variety said of the mindbending blockbuster; "If movies are shared dreams, then Christopher Nolan is surely one of Hollywood's most inventive dreamers, given the evidence of his commandingly clever Inception." The notoriously hard-to-please Kirk Honeycutt at The Hollywood Reporter also chimed in, calling the flick "a devilishly complicated, fiendishly enjoyable sci-fi voyage across a dreamscape that is thoroughly compelling." The online crowd too are eating it up, with the always thoughtful and articulate Drew McWeeney at Hitfix.com joining the chorus of praise, spewing: "Inception is an exhilarating cinematic experience that suggests there is still room, even in the blockbuster world, for big ideas and dangerous emotions, and that may be the single most thrilling thing about it."
The Leonardo DiCaprio starring flick, which also features a superb supporting cast including Ellen Page, Joesph Gordon Levitt and Cillian Murphy, is released here July 16th. We'll have a review for you next Monday, and we're also hosting an exclusive screening of it on Wednesday the 14th at the Savoy in Dublin.
