All new releases at the American box-office bowed on Wednesday last week, as the studios attempted to make up for a lack of audiences on July 4th, which fell on the normally busy Saturday. Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs won the five day race with $67.5 million, while Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen took $65 million for the same period in second. The excellent Michael Mann directed John Dillinger epic, Public Enemies, coined a solid $41 million. ‘Enemies’ should show strong legs over the coming weeks, as reviews have been mostly positive; while Ice Age and Transformers will run pretty close together with the kids out of school.
