If you believe Sebastian Stan - that's the actor who played Bucky Barnes AKA The Winter Soldier in the Marvel Cinematic Universe - there may be some life in Hugh Jackman's Wolverine just yet.
The comments were made over the weekend at the ACE Comic-Con and picked up by Comicbook.com, where Stan explained that he'd been recently in conversation with Jackman and said that "he's been thinking about it and it's been on his mind." The upcoming merger of Fox properties and Disney means that X-Men will have an eventual crossover with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, however the finer details of this have yet to be revealed.
Jackman's been pretty adamant - publicly, anyway - that his time as Wolverine ended last year with Logan, as the character basically died at the end of it. Part of what made Logan so special was the fact that the audience knew it was an ending both for the character and for Jackman, which made it all the more poignant.
Bringing him back, especially for something as homogenised as the Marvel Cinematic Universe, seems like a cheap move. It's not to say that Wolverine can't be recast and reinvented, but bringing Jackman on - as well-meaning as it might be - seems like a bad move for everyone involved.
So, over to you - do you want to see Hugh Jackman return as Wolverine or should the role be recast? Let us know in the comments!
