In a somewhat strange move, Hollywood big-wig, Harvey Weinstein, has come out and tipped Public Enemies for Oscar glory, praising the film and its star and director. He stated: "The Oscar race is officially on," before going on to say about Depp "It's the leading man as a character actor; it's the character actor as the leading man. It's the awareness, the silences ... but it's also the flinty, self-aware John Dillinger who knows what good public relations is." He then waxed lyrical about the director: "This is Michael Mann at the height of his height." Telling moviegoers: "Bring your wits, your intelligence and your curiosity to the table and you'll be rewarded with a feast." Weinstein wouldn’t seem to be the sort to bang the drum for another studio, but he's still right about Public Enemies. With the Oscar race now expanded to ten films for Best Picture, this should be, at least, nominated. The film is open everywhere now, and needs to be seen - so go!
