After we wrote an article a few days ago about how much it'd cost to attend Hogwarts, that JK Rowling one goes out and totally debunks us.
The billionaire author was recently asked by a fan on Twitter exactly how much it'd cost to attend Hogwarts School of Wizardry in Scotland.
Rowling, who's become quite active on Twitter of late, responded with this:
@emmalineonline1 @micnews There's no tuition fee! The Ministry of Magic covers the cost of all magical education!
— J.K. Rowling (@jk_rowling) July 17, 2015
The estimated cost, incidentally, was in and around $40,000 - so that's a big step back from free education in real terms.
Of course, y'know, Hogwarts isn't real and stuff - so that kinda puts this whole in perspective.
That being said, we'd be more likely to attend Durmstrang than Hogwarts. Not that we're into quasi-racism, mind, but their uniforms are very cool.
And, y'know, you're less likely to be involved in all sorts of shenanigans in Durmstrang. They're all about the education.
Rowling, of course, is a noted defender of free education and describes herself as a "self-taught socialist", so we're guessing this is a factor in deciding Hogwarts to free-to-attend.
Plus, as well, if they let the likes of Crabbe and Goyle in, they'll let anyone in.
