Krampus director Michael Dougherty has been tapped to direct Godzilla 2.
Dougherty is already involved in the universe as a writer, and according to Variety, he has recently been offered the directing gig too. He takes over from Gareth Edwards, who directed the 2014 reboot before going on to helm Rogue One.
Legendary Entertainment, the company behind the film, has teamed up with Warner Brothers to create a universe of monster movies centred on Godzilla and King Kong. Kong: Skull Island will be released this March, followed by Godzilla 2 in 2019, before the two team up for Godzilla vs Kong in 2020.
We've no further information on the film, but we look forward to seeing what Dougherty will do with the project.
