It hasn't been officially announced yet, but a number of websites are confirming that Game of Thrones' Jason Momoa will have a brief role in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice as Aquaman. The actor will appear in a few scenes before it's no doubt expanded into a film of its own.
Warner Bros. / DC Comics have really gone all out and are now directly challenging Marvel's cinematic universe. They've officially lined up a Justice League movie, a Green Lantern / The Flash movie, a Wonder Woman movie and now an Aquaman movie as well. Entourage fans will no doubt remember that Vincent Chase played the role in a fictional version of the film. Any super-fans remember who replaced him as Aquaman in the series? Answers on a postcard, please.
Despite all this, however, Momoa as recently as a month ago denied he was signed up to play Aquaman - even pointing out that he looks nothing like the character from the comic-books. Well that's never stopped anyone before. He went on to say that although he'd love to play a superhero at some stage, his involvement with Aquaman is purely "rumours". We'll just have to wait and see if it's actually going to happen.
Initial thoughts? Jason Momoa's a very physical presence on screen. As Khal Drogo in Game of Thrones, he was pretty terrifying and we didn't even know what he was saying half the time. That being said, he also starred in that pretty dire remake of Conan The Barbarian. In other words, he's grand as a supporting actor but leading a film by himself? Not so much.
