A deal has been reached in the much publicised Watchmen case between 20th Century Fox and Warner Bros. A joint statement read: "Warner Bros. and Twentieth Century Fox have resolved their dispute regarding the rights to the upcoming motion picture Watchmen. Warner Bros. acknowledges that Fox acted in good faith in bringing its claims, which were asserted prior to the start of principal photography. Fox acknowledges that Warner Brothers acted in good faith in defending against those claims. Warner Bros. and Fox, like all Watchmen fans, look forward with great anticipation to this film’s March 6 release in theatres." As part of the deal, Fox will have their legal fees and development costs paid by Warner Bros. while they'll also take home between 5% and 8.5% of the films gross, depending on how much money the film takes internationally. The highly anticipated flick will now be released on March 6th in the States, as was planned by Warner, who really need it to perform to 300 like levels to have the whole thing worth their while. Judging by the fantastic early footage I've seen, that shouldn't be a problem.
