Kenny Wormald (who apparently stars in the MTV show Dancelife in America) has scored the lead role in, just anointed helmer, Craig Brewer's Footloose remake, according to a press release from the studio, via Darkhorizons.com.

Originally Zak Efron was attached to star, with his High School Musical director Kenny Ortega at the helm, but then Efron pulled out, with Ortega following him out the door soon after. Soon after, Gossip Girl star Chase Crawford came onboard and promptly bounced, leaving the flick without, eh, anything really. But Paramount reeeeeeeeally want to make it hence these recent developments.

Wormald can obviously bust a move, but can he act? Bring back Kevin Bacon and just make the lead character 50 - f**k it.
