Fast and Furious exceeded already lofty expectations at the American box-office this passing weekend, as the reteaming of all the original cast members resulted in a huge $72.5 million opening weekend - the biggest opening bow since The Dark Knight last summer. Many had thought the film would open big, but it was predicted a gross in the region of $50-odd million would be more likely. Elsewhere, excellent looking comedy Adventureland did so-so business on a limited number of screens, taking just over $6 million, after it was heavily marketed on the presence of director Greg Mottola, and his previous film, Superbad.
