"Nine is kind of the first film of the final chapter."

The 'Fast and Furious' movies could be coming to an end, its star Vin Diesel recently revealed.

'Fast and Furious 9' will be hitting cinemas in Ireland and the UK on June 24th, and it may be the beginning of the end.

In an interview with the Associated Press, Vin Diesel was asked about when fans can expect the 'Fast' series to come to an end.

The actor said that there will be two more films after 'F9', which will close out the saga. He said the movies could potentially be released in 2023 and 2024, respectively.

"Every story deserves its own ending," Diesel said.

"I know people are going to feel like it doesn’t have to end, but I think all good things should.

"There are reasons for a finale. I think this franchise has deserved it."

He said that when he told his daughter about the 'Fast and Furious' saga's conclusion, she began to cry.

Director Justin Lin added: "We got together and Vin says 'I think we should think about closing up the saga now.'

"Nine is kind of the first film of the final chapter.

"We’re kind of reconfiguring everything, so that the next two movies should wrap up this amazing journey for these characters."

Lin will also direct the final two 'Fast and Furious' installments.

Diesel spoke of the history of the franchise, the first movie of which hit cinemas back in 2001.

"This franchise was born from the pavement, from the concrete," he said.

"The world just championed this underdog to a place where it has already surpassed all of these other franchises. But the franchise has a soul, and that soul has to rest."

The actor also implied that while his character Dominic Toretto's story is coming to an end, the 'Fast and Furious' cinematic universe will continue on.

Audiences could therefore see more spin-offs like 'Fast and Furious Presents Hobbs and Shaw' in the future.
