If you've seen Love, Actually and you know the scene we're talking about, the scene's probably going to take on a different meaning after this.
The pivotal moment when Emma Thompson's character finds out that a necklace that was purchased by her cheating husband, Alan Rickman, was actually intended for a young secretary actually had some bedding in Emma Thompson's real life.
At a fundraising event for the Tricycle Theatre in London last night, Thompson revealed that her former husband, Kenneth Branagh, had an affair with Helena Bonham Carter which caused their marriage to end in divorce.
"That scene where my character is standing by the bed crying is so well known because it’s something everyone’s been through," said Thompson. "I had my heart very badly broken by Ken. So I knew what it was like to find the necklace that wasn’t meant for me. Well, it wasn’t exactly that, but we’ve all been through it."
Thomspon and Branagh were married in 1989, but split in 1995. Thompson admitted in a 2013 interview that she's made peace with Helena Bonham Carter since then.
