Breck Eisner, who recently helmed the enjoyable remake of The Crazies, has apparently just become attached to direct another remake, this time from another genre icon, John Carpenter.
Eisner will call the shots on Escape From New York, an redo of an action flick Carpenter directed in the early 80s starring his favourite leading man, Kurt Russell. In the film Russell played general bad ass Snake Plissken, who is a prisoner on the island of Manhattan, trying to rescue The President of the United States, after his plane crashes and he's captured by Issac Hayes.
Die Hard 4.0 director Len Wiseman was previously attached to direct, with Gerard Butler in the lead role, at one point, but Wiseman bounced and Butler's name hasn't been mentioned with the film in a while. Timothy Olyphant should play Snake anyway. He's worked with Eisner before on The Crazies and is brilliant in the new FX show Justified.
