Ah, poor Eddie Murphy; he's just been named the most over-paid actor in Hollywood. The 51 year old actor who's made a name for himself releasing flop after flop - he's also made a name for himself for not being dead, mind - is said to be the least popular actor at the US box office despite being paid massive amounts of money for his roles.

As per the folks at Forbes magazine, for every $1 Eddie was paid for his last three turkeys, they returned an estimated average of $2.30. And although we quite enjoyed Tower Heist - granted, it wasn't amazing but Murphy seemed to be back on form - it still failed to make an impression at the box office earning just over double its production budget of $75 million.

Earlier this year, Eddie revealed that he's in talks to make a 'Beverly Hills Cop' TV show. Could this turn things around? Probably not, it seems Eddie Murphy may just be past his sell by date. He was the bees knees in the 80s but lately, not so much. Let's just blame Scary Spice Mel B for that, shall we? Having given me aching cheeks with Bowfinger, I'm still holding out hope that he might turn things around, go back to being his former funny self.

Commenting on the Beverly Hills Cop plans, Murphy said: 'What I'm trying to do with 'Beverly Hills Cop' now is produce a TV show starring Axel Foley's son, and Axel is the chief of police now in Detroit... I'd do the pilot, show up here and there.'

Other actors who've failed to draw a crowd to the flicks include Katherine Heigl who came in at a close second as her most recent film 'One For The Money' earned just $37 million and cost $40 million to make. Reese Witherspoon also failed to lure audiences to the cinema this year. That's not surprising; This Means War was pants.
