In a rare move, movie goers on this side of the pond will be getting a huge movie months before US audiences.
Tin Tin: Secret of the Unicorn will open in Irish and UK cinemas on Friday October 28th, while US audiences will have to wait until just before Christmas to see it. Reviews have been stellar, with major publications lining up to praise it. The Hollywood Reporter's Jordan Mintzer called it a "good ol' fashioned adventure flick that harkens back to the filmmaker's action-packed, tongue-in-cheek swashbucklers of the 1980s" and added that the effects were "visually dazzling." Empire Magazine generally falls over itself trying to please Steven Spielberg (both The Terminal and the last Indy film got four stars) and are not about to change the habit of a lifetime. They spewed that it was "Action-packed, gorgeous, and faithfully whimsical."
I'm still not sold on motion capture filmmaking, but if this one banks the cash it has the potential to, then Hollywood could be revisiting it.
