Eagle Eye topped the American charts as expected this weekend, coining just under $30 million to take the top spot. Other nearest opener was the reteaming of Richard Gere and Diane Lane for the romantic drama Nights in Rodanthe, which opened with a solid $13.5 million in second spot. Spike Lee's Miracle At St Anna underperformed, barely making the top ten with $3.5 million. Only other opening saw the surprise success of Christian-themed flick, Fireproof; which bowed at number four with $6.5 million, despite showing on a fraction of the screens as the other flicks.
