Considering how Tyrese Gibson has been open about his distaste for Dwayne Johnson and his spinoff film, and now - finally - he's responded.

In an Instagram post - seriously, why is everyone posting on Instagram nowadays? - Johnson made his case for the Hobbs spinoff and while he didn't directly reference Tyrese Gibson, he made it clear that "candy-asses need not apply."

Here's the post in question, with a little bit of footage announcing the release date of July 26th, 2019.

To be fair to Tyrese Gibson, he really is being a candy-ass about all this. Fast and Furious isn't some sort of hallowed franchise that can't be disrupted. Of course there should be a spinoff for Hobbs and Shaw - it makes absolute sense considering they were the best part of Fast and Furious 8.

Not only that, Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham have such a natural chemistry that it makes sense for them to team up and do their own thing. Not only that, if the rumours of Shane Black directing / writing the Hobbs spinoff turn out to be true, that's really going to be something to get excited about.
