And a little campy? Sure.
It's nearly time to choose your character as the legendary RPG is finally coming to life next year.
We've got our very first (off-screen) look at the cast of the upcoming 'Dungeons & Dragons' blockbuster, as we have to say, we're kind of excited for this one.
The cast of Chris Pine, Hugh Grant, Michelle Rodriguez, Regé-Jean Page, Justice Smith and Sophia Lillis all appear in the character reel which you can see below. Each one of them is equipped with their own weapons according to their character's class (while Grant sips on a cup of tea smh).
Variety was able to record the promotional reel from the San Diego Comic Con, which is currently running over in the States. Check it out below.
This 'Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves' first look feels a little campy and fun, but until we get a full-blown trailer of the film, it's going to be hard to tell how fans of the role-playing game are going to view this live-action effort.
For those not in the know, D&D is a fantasy role-playing game that can be played either in person with friends or (in recent years) online with friends and a wider community. It sees players create their own individual character by choosing a class for them (their skillset, including weapons and magical ability), a race, if they have a backstory, and then generally just embodying this person as you play out a dungeon or a quest with your fellow comrades. There's also a Dungeon Master who is part of the game, essentially the narrator and storyteller, and only they know what's in store for the players as they embark on their adventure. Judging from that footage above, we get the feeling that Grant could be playing such a role.
The first official footage of the film is expected to be unleashed during Thursday afternoon's SDCC 2022 event, so expect more news about the feature film very soon.
'Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves' is set for release in March, 2023.
