Mike Flanagan's adaptation to 'The Shining' sequel looks like another hit.
While it seems hard, if not impossible, to top 'The Shining', it looks like Mike Flanagan's 'Doctor Sleep' is a worthy successor if these first reactions are anything to go by.
Based on King's novel set nearly 40 years after the original, 'Doctor Sleep' follows a now-adult Danny Torrance who still retains his powers and is dealing with the long-buried trauma of his childhood. Ewan McGregor plays Danny Torrance, while Rebecca Ferguson plays the leader of a cult which feeds on people with the same powers as Danny.
Fans of #TheShining are really gonna love #DoctorSleep. It's at its best when its fueled by follow-up. Starts slowly and descends into madness, just like its predecessor. One specific scene is really horrifying, some solid scares, and good performances across the board. pic.twitter.com/NnHcq1ia8Q

The reaction embargo was lifted late last night, and US critics were able to post tweets about the movie, with reviews expected to go live at some stage next week. Our own review will go live at some stage next week as well, and we'll be discussing it in full on next week's edition of The Filum Show.
#DoctorSleep is one of my favorite films of the year. It’s not just a great horror film about substance abuse and trauma, it’s having a complex conversation about why Kubrick’s and King’s different interpretations of THE SHINING are equally valid and can absolutely coexist. pic.twitter.com/afHTw6xzFH
