Donald Trump Jr has also responded to the 'Game of Thrones' star's comments

Disney have no shortage of remakes on the way between 'The Little Mermaid', 'Lilo and Stitch', and 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs', among others. One person who has not been shy about his feelings regarding the latter project is Peter Dinklage.

Appearing on the WTF podcast with Marc Maron, Dinklage did not hold back regarding what he thinks about Disney's upcoming live-action remake of 'Snow White'.

He said: "You’re still telling the story of 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.'

"Take a step back and look at what you’re doing there. It makes no sense to me."

He continued: "You’re progressive in one way and you’re still making that fucking backwards story about seven dwarfs living in a cave together, what the fuck are you doing man?

"Have I done nothing to advance the cause from my soapbox? I guess I’m not loud enough."

The 'Game of Thrones' star added, however, that he'd be open to a updated version of the fairy tale.

"If you tell the story of 'Snow White' with the most fucked up, cool, or progressive spin on it? Let's do it," he said. "All in."

Disney has now said it aims to "avoid reinforcing stereotypes" in the remake.

A spokesperson for the House of Mouse released a statement to Variety reading: "To avoid reinforcing stereotypes from the original animated film, we are taking a different approach with these seven characters and have been consulting with members of the dwarfism community.

"We look forward to sharing more as the film heads into production after a lengthy development period."

The live-action 'Snow White' movie stars Rachel Zegler in the titular role and Gal Gadot as the Evil Stepmother.

Marc Webb ('500 Days of Summer', 'The Amazing Spider-Man') directs.

Disney's original 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs' was released in cinemas in 1937.

Another response to Dinklage's comments came from Donald Trump Jr. on Twitter.

He writes: "LOL… this is getting so ridiculous.

"Also, it seems he was fine with the dwarf jokes in GOT. I guess it’s all good as long as you’re getting paid? Disney consulting gig coming Spring 2022."

The tweet has been met with criticism online, with one tweeter commenting: "don't you have more important things to worry about?"

Another wrote: "You obviously did not read the article and don’t understand the title of the film."
