With over $800m and counting at the worldwide box office, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is undoubtedly one of the biggest hits of 2016.
The film has received a lot of praise for its ethically diverse cast of heroes, including Diego Luna, Riz Ahmed, and Donnie Yen.
Luna, who plays the heroic rebel, Cassian Andor, shared a message he received from a fan about taking her Mexican father to see Rogue One and how thrilled he was to see a Mexican actor star in such a big blockbuster while retaining his Mexican accent.
"I wanted my Mexican father, with his thick Mexican accent, to experience what it was like to see a hero in a blockbuster film, speak the way he does." the fan wrote, later adding that "my dad was silent for a while and then said, ‘And he was a main character.’ I said, ‘He was.’ And my dad was so happy."
"Representation matters.” the post ended.
Luna, who was born in Mexico City, shared the message on Twitter along with the caption "I got emotional reading this!"
