US funnyman and sometimes Daily Show correspondent Demetri Martin is set to star alongside Brad Pitt in Steven Soderbergh's Moneyball, an adaptation of a book by Michael Lewis about a baseball team owner attempting to field a competitive team on a budget of next-to-nothing. Martin will play Paul De Podesta, a Harvard grad who eschews Wall Street in favour of using his statistical skills to chance baseball scouting tactics. Steve Zaillian and Stan Chervin are writing the Columbia project which is expected to be released before summer 2010.
