Leonardo DiCaprio is to work with his Body of Lies helmer, Sir Ridley Scott on an adaptation of the book, The Wolf of Wall Street.

DiCaprio and long-time collaborator Martin Scorsese were due to stain celluloid on the project, but The Departed director bounced after studio bickering, with Scott now in early talks to take the helm. According to Deadline, via Empire, the story is about scumbag bankers, who essentially bleeded their investors dry until they were stopped by the long arm of the law. DiCaprio is also down to produce, as well as a star.

Could there be a more socially pertinent film? Unless someone is planning to make a biopic on Cheryl Cole's current "battle" with malaria, or how Vanessa Feltz is the Anti-Christ with a gastric band, that is. Seriously, sounds great, and Ridders could do with a solid production after the only mildly-liked Robin Hood came and went with a whimper. DiCaprio will next be seen in Inception, out next Friday the 16th.
