And, if that wasn't enough, the character will be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Although it's a long way off from being in cinemas, 'Deadpool 3' is now one of the most anticipated comic-book movies of the new decade.
So far, it's been confirmed that 'Bob's Burgers' writers Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin and Wendy Molyneux are currently busy on the script and that Ryan Reynolds is obviously back in the red suit. However, in a recent interview with Collider, Marvel head-honcho Kevin Feige confirmed some other news that's been rolling around the rumour mill.
"It will be rated R and we are working on a script right now, and Ryan’s overseeing a script right now," Feige told Collider, also adding that it most likely won't enter production this year, meaning it will likely be 2023 at the earliest before it's in cinemas.
'Deadpool' and 'Deadpool 2' were both commercially successful in a big, big way for Fox and now that Disney has taken over, it'd be a shame to take away the thing that made it so.
The larger question, however, is how Deadpool is going to fit into the framework that already exists. In the interview, Feige makes it clear that the character will be a fully-fledged part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and not an offshoot as was initially predicted.
Given how all modern Marvel movies have been PG-13 or thereabouts, bringing in Deadpool - which is explicitly not that - is going to be interesting, to say the least.
