He wanted to work with Zack Snyder
Dave Bautista has revealed that he was offered a role in 'The Suicide Squad', but turned it down.
'The Suicide Squad' is being helmed by James Gunn. Thus taking the role would have seen Bautista reunited with his 'Guardians of the Galaxy' writer-director.
It also would have seen Bautista move from Marvel to DC.
But the wrestler-turned-actor had his reasons, which he revealed in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.
Essentially, he wanted the opportunity to work with Zack Snyder, and was attracted to the script for his next film, 'Army of the Dead'.
Snyder describes the project as a "full-blown, balls-to-the-wall zombie heist movie."
Dave Bautista says that when he was first approached about it, he "wasn't interested."
"I had this chip on my shoulder and was looking for juicy [dramatic roles]," he continues. "Then I read the script and it was a lot deeper and had more layers than I thought.
"And also, to be quite frank, I wanted to work with Zack."
He added: "We're running around killing zombies on craps tables.
"It's just a ton of fun."
'Army of the Dead' premieres on Netflix later in 2021. 'The Suicide Squad' is currently set for release on August 6, 2021.
