Danny Boyle is out and about doing press for his forthcoming awards contender 127 Hours, and has been talking up a sequel to Trainspotting.

The director told Cinematical "It will happen, I think. We have a very strong idea that it would be a wonderful thing to reapproach, where they've all aged clearly into a mid-life kind of crisis..." He then added, "It won't be just cashing in. We'll look at these guys a whole generation fell in love with, in a certain kind of way. They've aged, just like we all do. It will be a very deliberate and imaginative approach to it (rather than) just a sequel which is cravenly a business decision." He also added that Irvine Welch's sequel, Porno, "isn't a great book in the way the first one is a masterpiece."

Looks like Boyle could be getting the old gang back together...
