Right so we're not exactly sure what's happening with this rumoured Ghostbusters 3 movie, but Dan Akroyd's given us a tidbit to tide us over 'til we hear more. Whether it actually comes to fruition or not remains to be seen.
Rumour has it a script is indeed on the way, with plot details beginning to surface. While being interviewed on Larry King's show, Akroyd said (via ComingSoon.net):
"It's based on new research that's being done in particle physics by the young men and women at Columbia University... I can say that the world or the dimension that we live in, our four planes of existence - length, height, width and time - become threatened by some of the research that’s being done. Ghostbusters, new Ghostbusters, have to come and solve the problem."
Akroyd also reckons production will begin next year, marking the 30th anniversary of the original. Do we want a third Ghostbusters movie? Has it had its day? We'd never say no to more Bill Murray, that's for sure, though the reality of him reprising his role remains unlikely. Boo.
"There will be a hole for him... If Billy wants to walk in the door and be in the movie, we will find a place."
