Johan Johansson, the Icelandic-born, Oscar-nominated composer of soundtracks to films such as Sicario, Prisoners, and The Theory Of Everything has passed away.
He was 48. In a brief statement delivered to media by Johansson's management, they confirmed the news and described him as "one of the most talented and brilliant people who we had the privilege of knowing and working with."
Johansson's work can be heard in James Marsh's The Mercy, which is currently playing in cinemas this weekend and the upcoming Mary Magdalene biopic starring Rooney Mara and Jaoquin Phoenix.
He was twice-nominated for an Oscar for Best Original Score, in 2014 for The Theory Of Everything, and in 2015 for Sicario. He is survived by his daughter, parents and three sisters.
