Looking at Colin Farrell's career, one thing he has never done is star in a romantic comedy. Given his obvious leading man looks, he's surely been offered plenty of them, but evidently knocked them all back. That has just changed, though, as he's officially signed up for the star-heavy romantic comedy, Something Borrowed, opposite John Krasinksi, Gennifer Goodwin and Kate Hudson.

Based on the novel by Emily Giffin the story centres on a single Manhattan attorney (Goodwin), who gets lamped on her 30th birthday and ends up shagging her best mates (played by Hudson) fiancé Dexter (Melrose Place star Colin Egglesfield). Farrell will reportedly play Dexter's best mate, while Krasinski is Goodwin's long time confidante.

The interesting thing about this film is that it's got all the bigger stars in apparent supporting roles. Farrell, Krasinski and Hudson have all starred in hit movies; while Egglesfield just appeared in the lowest rated show on Network American Television (Melrose Place). There are plans for a sequel already, where Farrell's character would also appear, as well as Krasinksi and Hudson - with the roles reportedly expanded upon there.
