The Dubliner will reprise his role as Oswald Cobblepot in the HBO series
He may be on his way to Los Angeles this weekend for the Oscars, but Colin Farrell has been spending the last while shooting his latest movie in New York.
The Dublin actor is reprising his role as the Oswald Cobblepot aka The Penguin, in the new spin-off series focused on the character.
Farrell first played Cobblepot in 'The Batman' opposite Robert Pattinson, and the new series 'The Penguin' will focus on the infamous villain. It's being directed by Matt Reeves for HBO Max, and production began in NYC in recent weeks.
The 46-year-old recently told Variety that he was excited to delve deeper into The Penguin's psyche in the series. "The only thing I had an idea [of] was that I wasn’t nearly getting to explore the character as much as I wanted to," he said. "Because there was all this extraordinary work done by [makeup artists] Mike Marino and Mike Fontaine and his team, and I just thought it was the tip of the iceberg, pardon the pun, that we were getting to do the six or seven scenes that we did in the film. I was grateful for them, but I wanted more."
The make-up is still jaw-droppingly remarkable in the spin-off - as you'll see from the new footage that has emerged from New York over the last day - as an eagle-eyed fan spotted Farrell, in costume, hurrying into a building.
