Three new films opened at the North American box-office this passing weekend, and all three were hits. Clint Eastwood proved that he is still a bankable movie star, not just Oscar winning director, as his latest effort Gran Torino coined just under $30 million, giving it the crown for the weekend. Both Bride Wars and horror film The Unborn did stellar business also, bagging an estimated $21.5 million and $21 million respectively. Torino marks Eastwood's first on screen appearance since multiple Oscar winner Million Dollar Baby in 2004, and proves that he still has clout when it comes to pulling the crowds. Unlike Grand Torino, Bride Wars and The Unborn were slaughtered by critics, but made a dent thanks to built in genre audience, and the star power of Hathaway and Hudson.
