"He's going to play totally against type, the lead baddie"

Chris Hemsworth will be returning to his most renowned role as the God of Thunder in 'Thor: Love and Thunder'. But that's not the only major franchise that fans of the actor are looking forward to seeing him in.

In the upcoming 'Mad Max Fury Road' prequel 'Furiosa', Anya Taylor-Joy will be taking on the titular role with Chris Hemsworth starring alongside her.

Little was previously known about the role the Aussie actor will be playing.

However, thanks to a new book by Kyle Buchanan titled 'Blood, Sweat & Chrome: The Wild and True Story of Mad Max: Fury Road', we now have a little more information about Chris Hemsworth's part.

In the book, P. J. Voeten, a producer and first assistant director on 'Mad Max: Fury Road' revealed (via SlashFilm): "George [Miller, writer-director] saw Chris [Hemsworth] initially as a courtesy and then fell in love with the idea.

"He's going to play totally against type, the lead baddie.

"Unfortunately, we've got to find all of our other characters that aren't around anymore: a new Immortan, a new Bullet Farmer, and a few others."

Thus Chris Hemsworth won't be playing a young Immortan Joe or Bullet Farmer but a different villain in the franchise.

Aside from the fourth 'Thor' movie, the actor also has Netflix projects 'Spiderhead' and 'Extraction 2' coming up, and will play Hulk Hogan in an untitled biopic.

'Furiosa' revs into cinemas in 2024.
