2017. The guy who plays Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is fighting the former Imperial Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan on Twitter.
Let's all step back for a moment and let that actually sink in. What a time to be alive, folks. Yes, Chris Evans has engaged in a war of tweets with David Duke, who is a Holocaust denier, a white nationalist and Donald Trump's biggest fan. As we already mentioned, he was also a high-ranking member of the Ku Klux Klan.
Evans took to Twitter yesterday to voice his opinion on the appointment of Jeff Sessions, who is now America's attorney general. It's worth pointing out that Jeff Sessions has an unanimously terrible record when it comes to civil rights and lost a nomination to be named a judge in his native Alabama over racially insensitive comments he made back in the '80s.
Evans pointed out that David Duke endorsing not only Donald Trump, but Jeff Sessions was a sign that the confirmation was a pretty terrible idea.
If David Duke....DAVID!...DUKE!... thinks you're right, then you are unequivocally wrong. The confirmation of @jeffsessions is beyond words. https://t.co/CuLUznwO6S

Duke then returned fire with the usual bat-shit insane line about "Zionists", before Evans shot back with a list of quotes from the former KKK leader and pretty much bodied the bastard.
@DrDavidDuke well if these nuggets of bigotry are some of your OTHER thoughts, then I stand by my original tweet https://t.co/YSrOCDuyBw
