The writer of 'Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind', 'Being John Malkovich', and more is coming to Dublin.
Screenwriter and director Charlie Kaufman has been announced as a guest for the Virgin Media Dublin International Film Festival in 2020.
Kaufman will take part in a public interview with fellow screenwriter Mark O'Halloran during the festival, which runs from February 26th to March 8th.
To date, Kaufman has been nominate for four Oscars, twice for Best Original Screenplay, once for Best Adapted Screenplay, and once for Best Animated Feature in 'Animolisa'. As well as this, Kaufman directed the critically-acclaimed 'Synecdoche, New York', and his latest movie, 'I'm Thinking of Ending Things', is set to premiere on Netflix in 2020.
Per the official statement on Kaufman's attendance, festival director Grainne Humphreys said that "it is a joy for us to have Charlie Kaufman as a guest of the festival, the festival has long championed screenwriters and screenwriting and we are truly honoured to welcome one of the most original and vital voices in modern cinema."
VMDIFF '20 will screen over 110 feature films, documentaries, short films and archive programmes along with special artist tributes, conversations, panels, workshops and music events. Early bird tickets are on sale now, with the full programme due to be announced in January.
