"the strangest, most bewildering, queerest, magical, and spectacular cinematic experience I have ever had"
'Cats' had its world premiere in New York City last night. Early impressions are coming in hot and. fast.
Based on the Andrew Lloyd Webber hit musical, there's been a lot of attention around 'Cats' since its first trailer went live.
Many found they were experiencing the uncanny valley with the cat-human CGI mashup.
Directed by Tom Hooper, who previously helmed 'Les Mis' and 'The King's Speech', the upcoming feature has quite a cast between Jason Derulo, Rebel Wilson, Taylor Swift and Idris Elba. James Corden, Ian McKellen, Judi Dench and newcomer Fracesca Hayward also star.
'Cats' hits Irish cinemas this Friday, December 20th, and we'll have a review soon.
Until then, here are the first responses to the movie.
somehow was unaware that Ray Winstone played Growltiger in CATS and let me tell you I hooted and hollered

Uh, #Cats is kinda great? Everything that seemed weird in the trailers just melts away when you’re watching the film. It’s magical and just plain works with the sole exception of Taylor Swift’s original song about the cats devouring the corpse of an old woman who died in her flat
