With just two weeks before cameras are due to roll, recent entertainment.ie interviewee Nicolas Cage has pulled out of a $35 million flick. The Nicole Kidman co-starring, Joel Schumacher helmed, Trespass, is now looking for a new star.
According to Deadline.com, via Darkhorizons, Cage is exhausted after a global press tour for his latest Bruckheimer produced effort, The Sorcerer's Apprentice, and has f**ked off to the Bahamas for a vacation, instead of getting to work on the film like his reported $7 million contract stipulated. This after producers obliged Cage when he said he wanted to play a villain in the thriller, and not the husband role he was initially offered.
The producers are now tasked with finding a star big enough to fill the void left by Cage, in a very short window, or risk the production falling through completely. That wouldn't be good for anyone working on it, not just the starry cast and well-off director. But Cage's contract is unclear; no one knows the intricacies, or the behind the scenes reasons for his bolting. If the production does fall through expect an impending lawsuit.
