After the financial success of the first Ghost Rider film, a sequel was thought pretty much inevitable. But writer/director Mark Steven Johnson moved on to something else, and Nic Cage went wig shopping, probably. But now, a sequel is in the works, with Batman Begins co-writer David Goyer on scripting duties. Now, the Batman Begins part of that sentence may get you excited; but heed said excitement, as Goyer's last effort was the truly shite The Unborn, while he also directed the third, and worst, Blade film. That said, he seems to take his finger out of his arse when he's just writing, so there is hope for this one. The first film was very messy, had an incoherent final third, and plot holes the size of Texas; but the effects were very well handled and the director Johnson has an obvious passion for the source material. If he comes back it could work, just not with Goyer directing.
