Producer Roy Lee has confirmed that Tim Burton is next set to direct the board game to film adaptation Monsterpocalypse, according to Slashfilm, via Darkhorizons.com.
In what sounds suspiciously like Transformers, it centres on "giant skyscraper sized monsters who attack earth. When the humans fight back, the monsters burrow underground to wait for their kind whom they have sent a signal to." Jesus, is Burton moving away from his comfort zone and actually making an action movie?
The very talented screenwriter John August (Big Fish, Go) is working with Burton on the project, which sounds like it would have a hefty budget. Burton last helmed Alice in Wonderland, which despite being utterly mediocre, managed to cross the one billion dollar mark at the worldwide box-office.
