Director of X-Men and The Usual Suspects, Bryan Singer, has apparently been approached to direct a big budget, new film version of Battlestar Galactica. According to Drew McWeeny over at Hitfix.com, it will be a remake of the 1970's original, and not in the same universe of the much-loved TV series that recently wrapped its run. I've never seen it, but I've heard some folk mentioning it in the same breath as The Wire, which is high praise indeed. Universal Pictures would like Singer involved in some capacity, even if it is just producing, but there is still a strong possibility he will direct. Singer last directed Tom Cruise in Valkyrie.
