Beyonce Knowles thriller Obsessed easily topped the North American box-office this passing weekend, as expected, with an impressive gross of $28.5 million. Two new other openings, Channing Tatum drama Fighting, and the (pretty much buried) Robert Downey Jr. and Jamie Foxx former Oscar hopeful The Soloist also bowed. Tracking on Fighting was minimal, and reviews were mainly negative, but it still did quite well on a small budget, pulling in $11.4 million. The Soloist opened with a whimper, taking in $9.6 million, despite a heafty budget and starry cast. The big surprise of the weekend was the opening of Disney documentary Earth, which has coined $ 14.2 million since it opened on Wednesday - proving that people do actually want to be educated as well as entertainment at their local multiplex. Who knew!?
