'Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation Of One Harley Quinn)' hits Irish cinemas next week.
Although our own review doesn't go live until next week, early US reviews for 'Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation Of One Harley Quinn)' have landed online and it's looking good for the first solo out for Margot Robbie's comic-book character.
Much of the reviews praise the action sequences, the humour, and the dynamic between Margot Robbie and Ewan McGregor. As well as this, the movie's been compared to the likes of 'Shazam!' with its unique aesthetic, sense of humour, and not-so-serious tone. Mary Elizabeth Winstead was also singled out in a few reactions, citing her as the MVP while others compared it to (gasp) 'John Wick'.
The movie doesn't land in Irish cinemas until February 7th, but if these early reactions are anything to go by, things are looking up for DC and taking a more stylised approach might just be the way forward. We'll have our full review online from Tuesday, February 4th.
For now, here's some of the reactions so far.
#BirdsofPrey is a ridiculous and rad superhero film. The fight scenes are phenomenal and the villains are delicious. It shouldn't have taken this long to get the Birds of Prey on film but it was a lot of fun.

#BirdsOfPrey: winning characters, above-average action, and a killer soundtrack hampered by uneven tone and pacing. The girls at their best together, and they're not together enough. Mary Elizabeth Winstead's Huntress is the not-so-secret MVP. 💕
