Excellent! (guitar solo)
Although it's not due to be released here in Ireland until next month, the first reviews from the US for 'Bill & Ted Face The Music' have landed online.
The follow-up to 'Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey' picks up some 29 years after the original, with Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter back in action as William S. Preston Esq. and Theodore Logan, or Bill and Ted. As well as reuniting the cast, writer Ed Solomon returned to pen the new script, with 'Galaxy Quest' director Dean Parisot behind the camera.
So, was it excellent or was it bogus? So far, the Rotten Tomatoes score for 'Bill & Ted Face The Music' stands at 79% with just over 70 reviews counted so far. Most of the reviews admit that while it's by no means perfect, it's a movie that's "blithely reassuring" and "surprisingly cheery" for one that's about the end of the world.
EW's review says that "the joy comes from watching Reeves and Winter on screen, two holy fools just doing their best to bring light and love and non-heinous riffs - and remind the bleary-eyed citizens of 2020, perhaps, of a simpler, sweeter world gone by." Variety, meanwhile, said that while the movies doesn't go to 11, "it's a most excellent sequel," while the New York Times described it as "a most non-bogus experience."
'Bill & Ted Face The Music' arrives in Irish cinemas on September 23rd.
