Ben Stiller has been confirmed to star in True Blood and Six Feet Under creator Alan Ball’s new flick, I Am Chippendales, say the folks at Variety.
In what sounds like it’d be a nice sequel of sorts to Zoolander, but is actually a drama based on actual events, Stiller will play Nick DeNoia, who was one of the people who conceived the dance troupe The Chippendales, and who eventually helped the mickey waving go global.
Other real life folk who feature in the story are Paul Snider and Somen "Steve" Banerjee, the latter of whom was found dead in a jail cell in 1994 after pleading guilty to attempted arson, racketeering and murder for hire.
So Magic Mike this isn’t then. Jaysus.
Stiller was last seen in the very underrated and generally lovely Secret Life of Walter Mitty, which he also directed.
Ball has previously won an Oscar for scripting American Beauty and a couple of Director’s Guild gongs for his work on Six Feet Under.
