The performer was allegedly fired for testing positive for Adderall
One of the original 'Jackass' crew from the TV series is suing his former colleague and a number of others in a lawsuit filed this week.
Bam Margera is suing Johnny Knoxville, Paramount Studios and directors Jeffrey Tremaine and Spike Jonze due to him being fired from the upcoming 'Jackass Forever' movie.
According to Variety, the suit which was filed on Monday this week compares Margera’s treatment to that of the Britney Spears’ conservatorship case. The star alleges that he has been victimized as a result of his mental health issues.
As part of the "wellness agreement" all of the stars signed for the fourth 'Jackass' film, Margera claims that he didn't get a chance to run it by his attorney before signing. The agreement required regular drug and alcohol tests, as well as a prescription medication regime - Margera tested positive for Adderall in his system.
Bam Margera, who has played a role in all three previous 'Jackass' movies as well as the early 2000's TV series and his spin-off series 'Viva La Bam', has been in rehab numerous times over the years for alcohol and drug use. Margera claims he was "coerced" into signing this "wellness agreement" by Knoxville, Jonze and Tremaine while he was in rehab in 2019. If he didn't do so, he would not be a part of 'Jackass Forever'.
The Margera suit alleges he was fired after testing positive for Adderall, which he has been on prescription for the past 10 years. He also claims that the upcoming sequel uses many of his ideas.
In an interview with GQ earlier this year, Johnny Knoxville said he wanted Bam to "get better", adding "I don’t want to get into a public back-and-forth with Bam".
The death of 'Jackass' star and long-time friend Ryan Dunn in 2011 left Margera devastated, as revealed in the MTV special 'A Tribute to Ryan Dunn'.
'Jackass Forever' will hit theatres on October 22.
