Black Panther has, for us, been one of the most highly anticipated of Marvel's upcoming slate.
The character, which dates back to 1966, has consistently been one of the most interesting characters in the expanded Marvel universe.
When Marvel announced Black Panther for their Phase III, unknown Chadwick Boseman was tapped to play the Prince of Wakanda.
Now, it's been reported that Ava DuVernay, who directed last year's civil rights biopic Selma, will be directing Black Panther for Marvel.
This is a pretty big jump for DuVernay as, up until now, she's worked on mainly independent and limited-release films.
However, it was widely reported that Marvel were holding talks with DuVernay last month to direct one of their properties, either Captain Marvel, Black Panther or AKA Jessica Jones.
Marvel has been courting female directors for quite some time, with many rumours abounding that both Angelina Jolie and Michelle MacLaren are being tipped to direct Captain Marvel.
So, what do we think of Ava DuVernay directing Black Panther? Sound off in the comments!
