The adaptation of the hit musical is set for release next year
As you may already know, production on a feature film version of the hit stage musical 'Wicked' is currently underway.
Pop star Ariana Grande is set to take the role of Glinda, while Cynthia Erivo will play Elphaba in the story, which is set to be split into two films and is directed by Jon M. Chu ('Crazy Rich Asians', 'In the Heights').
The story is a retelling of the 'Wizard of Oz' story and is based on a 1995 novel by Gregory Maguire, telling the origin stories of Glinda, who becomes the Good Witch, and Elphaba, who becomes the Wicked Witch of the West, and how they met as schoolfriends and ultimately became enemies.
Grande shared some behind-the-scenes photos from the set - several of them featuring her co-star Erivo - that give fans their first glimpse into the highly-anticipated film. She captioned it "Up to no good" and included a broomstick emoji, for good measure:
'Wicked Part 1' is set for released in November 2024 - but if you can't wait that long, the musical is coming to Dublin's Bord Gais Energy Theatre from July 23rd - September 15th, with tickets on sale this coming Friday.
